About New to Nyack New to Nyack is a very informal group established in 1998 that affiliated with Friends of the Nyacks in 2001. The organization welcomes newcomers who have been in the Nyack area less than three years—but we rely on the knowledge and experience of “oldcomers.”
Walk scenic Oak Hill Cemetery and celebrate the lives of many “permanent residents of the Nyacks”. This is the home to many who have left their mark on the world, national and local scene. Enjoy the famous Victorian homes that grace South Broadway and view the stained glass windows and other features of the Victorian Age while reliving the history of old Nyack. The tour meets at the NW Corner of South Broadway and Cedar Hill Avenue, South Nyack.
This tour begins across the street from “Pretty Penny,” the former residence of Helen Hayes and Charles MacArthur and proceeds north on Broadway past a string of remarkably detailed Victorian mansions, a fire company, and sites of early shipbuilding and commerce.
