This year boasts our 5th anniversary scheduled for Friday, June 18th 7-9PM, Saturday, June 19th 12-5 & 6-9PM and Sunday, June 20th 12-5PM.

This year our theme is “A Village Helping a Country.”

The poster selection is a painting by Rolande Magloire, a Nyack resident. “Each year we sell signed limited editions of the poster”, says Paulette Ross, producer of Art Walk and Vice Chair of FON, “and at Ms.Magloire’s request 30% of her proceeds on the sale of the signed/numbered limited edition will go to Haitian relief via the Red Cross.”

“Along with the limited edition posters, we are selling the original painting in a unique fashion this year,” Paulette continues. “The painting will be exhibited in p.ross on Main Street, where a silent auction of the piece will occur. Bids will be taken throughout the event and will close on Sunday, June 20 at 4PM when the proud winner will be announced with a champagne toast.”

Throughout the Village stores are turned into mini art galleries with the artists in residence. Stroll down the streets of Nyack, view and /or purchase works by the wonderful talent of this year’s selected artists, shop the stores, eat, drink and enjoy the Village.

This is an exciting and busy year for Friends of the Nyacks! This year will be the fifth annual Art Walk and the twentieth Mostly Music season, two great events in one Village that should not be missed.More information about dates is inside the newsletter and at friendsofthenyacks.org for Mostly Music and nyackmerchants.org for Art Walk.We are currently in the process of updating our website and look forward to presenting our new and beautiful site.Mostly Music will also be moving back to Tuesday evenings. This year’s musical lineup is fabulous. Our Distinguished Citizen Award went to Jerry Koblin of Koblin’s Pharmacy for all his years of service to our communities. It was a remarkable evening. You can read more about it inside this newsletter. Spring marked the beginning of our Walking Tours. If you have never taken a Friends of the Nyacks Walking Tour I encourage you to check the schedule inside, pick one, and do it! These are a wonderful way to learn even more about the neighborhoods we love to live in. And if you know someone who is new to Nyack, please pass on our information as we have New to Nyack socials for new residents. Many of the current Steering Committee members once met at a New To Nyack function!

This August, The Merchants’ Committee is planning to bring Cinda Baxter, the founder of The 3/50 Project, to Nyack to speak to our business community. Cinda is a world class speaker and an avid supporter of “Main Street” businesses. Check our website for more information and for ticket sales. This promises to be a great event. More information about The 3/50 Project is inside.

Congratulations to our new affiliate, ArtsRock, on its successful first season of programming. More information on ArtsRock appears inside. We look forward to seeing you at our programs and events this year!

All the best,
Danielle Watson

This is the twentieth year of the Friends of the Nyacks’ Mostly Music Concert Series. Although last year’s concert series was run on Sunday afternoons to coordinate with the wonderful Quadricentennial events happening in Nyack celebrating the 400th Anniversary of the Hudson River, this year we are back to our long-standing Tuesday night schedule. It’s a great night for packing up a picnic dinner, grabbing the family, a few lawn chairs, a blanket and heading down to Memorial Park to enjoy the summer evening with your community. The pleasant and diverse sounds of the musical performers, along with the laughter of the playing children and the sounds of lively conversation, make for a great evening.

All concert events are FREE to the public but donations for funding these and future Friends of the Nyacks’Mostly Music concerts events are always welcome. The concerts are made possible by the hard working volunteer efforts of just a few devoted Nyackers. New volunteers who can spare a few hours to help with these great concerts are always welcome.
