PO BOX 120, Nyack, NY 10960

Urgent: We need your help! Our playground is in need of renovation. The Village of Nyack and Village of South Nyack have committed funds to this project, but we need the community to pitch in too. Please visit this update page to read more about this exciting project and how you can become a part of Nyack history.

play structure The playground, conceived and built by the Friends of the Nyacks, is dedicated to the memory of American Songwriter, Jimmy Van Heusen (1913 - 1990).

Jimmy Van Heusen, born Edward Chester Babcock in Syracuse, New York, was one of the most prolific composers of popular music during America's Golden Age of Song. Collaborating primarily with lyricists Jonny Burke and Sammy Cahn, Van Heusen wrote songs for films, television, and the musical theater.

In a career spanning more than forty years, Van Heusen won four Academy Awards and one Emmy Award. His special gift for combining musical sophistication with the lightheartedness of childhood in such songs as "High Hopes," "Aren't You Glad You're You," and "Pocketful of Miracles" will leave us all forever "Swinging on a Star."

The Jimmy Van Heusen Preschool Playpark is located in Memorial Park, just a few short blocks from downtown Nyack. Come enjoy an afternoon of sand, slides, and swings, with a beautiful view of the Hudson River.
